From the opening of the lifts to the Winter Olympics: the full calendar
What will start soon promises to be the most intense and exciting winter season ever for Livigno, which will have the honour to host on its ski slopes some competitions of the Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina 2026. But there are not only the Olympics: for ski and winter sports lovers the months from November to May will be full of opportunities to have fun on Livigno's snow.
Here is the complete calendar of activities and events scheduled in Livigno during the ski season 2025/26.
Dates ski season Livigno: opening lifts, Olympic races, events
- October 2025: according to a well-established tradition, Livigno is among the first ski resorts in the world to open a cross-country ski slope, still in the middle of autumn. This is the technical ring made using snow preserved from the previous winter thanks to the "snow farm" technique, available to athletes and professional teams for training.
- 29 November: opening of the slopes and lifts in Livigno. The official start of the 2025/26 ski season is set for the last Saturday of November, when the more than 115 km of perfectly groomed slopes will be at skiers' disposal.
- 14 December: BWT Sgambeda 2025 in Livigno. Livigno's historic cross-country ski race, celebrating its 35th edition this year, will take place in mid-December: a 30 km free technique granfondo race across the valley, accompanied as always also by the Minisgambeda for the youngest skiers (Saturday 13 December).
- 27 December: World Cup Super-G in Livigno. In the year in which it hosts the Winter Olympics, Livigno also welcomes the Circo Bianco: the Alpine Skiing World Cup makes a stop in Little Tibet, with Livigno replacing the Bormio Downhill on the Stelvio slope (which will take place the following month precisely on the occasion of the Games). The men's Super-G will be held on a brand new slope in Livigno, in the Sitas Ski Area, starting at 2375 metres and finishing in the village, right next to the Valandrea Ski Area.
- 6 February 2026: Start of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Livigno hosts the competitions of two Olympic disciplines, acrobatic skiing and snowboarding, which will take place from 5 to 21 February with a total of 26 medals up for grabs. Here you will find all the information
- 22 February: Closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics. The Olympic competitions end, but not the skiing in Livigno: the season continues, with the possibility for everyone to ski on the snow and on the slopes of the great international champions.
- 3 May: end of the skiing season in Livigno, where - snow conditions permitting - it will be possible to ski until late spring.
Skiing at the Valandrea Ski Area: the slopes in the centre of Livigno open also during the Olympics
For those who want to ski in Livigno this winter, nothing is really missing, including the snow that will arrive soon. And if some slopes and lifts will be closed for the Olympics in February, the Ski Area Valandrea will know no rest: our ski slopes in the centre of Livigno, with convenient parking for skiers connected to the lifts and Livigno bus stop right in front, will be open from Saturday 29 November until the end of the winter season, for everyone.
We remind you that thanks to our complete service offer, you can do everything here: parking, ski pass, ski school, ski and equipment deposit. We look forward to seeing you on the slopes!
