The ski school instructors who run courses and lessons
The choice of Livigno as a ski destination in the Alps is due not only to the size of the ski area and the variety of its runs (discover the most beautiful, the most technical and the most scenic runs in the ski area), nor simply to the countless opportunities for leisure, fun and relaxation that the town offers alongside or as an alternative to skiing. Another very important factor also makes all the difference: Livigno’s ski instructors.
Who are the ski instructors in Livigno
Every winter on Livigno’s slopes, you’ll find more than 150 ski instructors, spread across the town’s various ski schools. They are young people – men and women – who love skiing in every possible and imaginable way, and who devote their days to teaching the secrets and techniques of this sport to anyone wishing to learn how to ski down the snow-covered slopes of the mountains.
Many ski instructors are from Livigno and, as children, learnt to take their first steps on skis on the town’s slopes – first on the beginners’ slopes and then on the more technical runs at higher altitudes. Others, however, come from other parts of Lombardy, Italy and even abroad, with a significant number of foreign ski instructors who speak English, Polish, Russian, German and French: a considerable advantage for all the foreign tourists spending their holidays in Livigno.
All instructors have undergone meticulous professional training – in most cases through the Italian Ski School – and have many years’ experience in the role, making them particularly reliable when working with children and young people. There is no shortage of instructors specialising in individual disciplines: from snowboard instructors to those dedicated to children experiencing the snow for the first time.
Ski lessons with instructors in Livigno: courses at the Valandrea Ski Area

Ski courses with instructors in Livigno are open to everyone: children, teenagers, absolute beginners, and adults who can ski but wish to perfect their technique or get back into skiing after a long break. Depending on your needs, you can book private lessons with a dedicated ski instructor, or join group ski courses in small groups of aspiring skiers of the same level or age, led by an instructor: ski courses usually last a week, but there are various types available.
Children’s ski courses are the most popular throughout the entire ski season (which, it’s worth noting, is very long in Livigno, running from December until early May) and are usually held in the village’s ski schools, whilst older children or adults at an advanced level can also practise on the higher slopes.
The Valandrea Ski Area offers an ideal ski school service, as instructors can use both the magic carpet for beginners – with its adjoining run, which is simple and not very steep, and therefore suitable for younger skiers – and the other ski lifts in Valandrea: the ski lift and the chairlift, which provide access to the ski area’s blue runs – classified as easy – perfect for learning to ski on Livigno’s snow. For all skiers, there are also the many facilities that Valandrea provides alongside the ski school: the ticket office where you can buy your ski pass, the dedicated car park for skiers (or the Livigno bus stop right in front of the lifts), lockers where you can leave your personal belongings and equipment (even for several days), and the option to hire skis and snowboards.
