Dates, lifts, Olympics: all the information you need to ski in Livigno this winter
Ski lovers are already counting the days until the first downhill on the slopes; skiers in Livigno know that the wait is shorter: the Valtellina resort will in fact unfailingly be a reference point for winter sports in the Alps, this year even more so as Livigno has been designated Olympic venue for the 2026 Winter Games. Here is all the information regarding the upcoming ski season: when, where and how to ski in Livigno.
Opening dates of the lifts in Livigno and duration of the season
As per tradition, after theopening of the cross-country ski run in October, Livigno's ski lifts open on the last weekend of November, when the snowfalls have already covered the whole valley and the slopes are perfectly snow-covered and groomed. Also this year, then, Livigno confirms itself among the first ski resorts in the Alps to open the winter season, which will be really long because it will last - again as usual - until late spring: in Livigno you can ski even until the beginning of May (snow conditions permitting), almost a month beyond Easter, which in 2026 falls on 5 April.

Winter Olympics 2026 in Livigno: where to ski during the Olympics

In the middle of the ski season there will be a truly extraordinary event: the Winter Olympic Games in Livigno, a global event that will also take place in Valtellina. The competitions of the Milan-Cortina 2026 edition will in fact also be held in the province of Sondrio: Livigno will host two disciplines with a high level of spectacularity and adrenaline such as snowboarding and acrobatic skiing, which will award a total of 26 Olympic medals on the snow of the Livigno ski area.
The venues for the Olympic competitions in Livigno are located near the departure of the Mottolino cable car (Livigno Snow Park) and the departure of the Carosello 3000 cable car (Livigno Aerials & Moguls Park). The Valandrea ski area, in the centre of town with a reserved car park and dedicated skipass ticket office, will be among the lifts and slopes in Livigno open during the Olympics: here it will be possible to ski before, during and after the Olympic event, without any closures or interruptions.
The start of the Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina is scheduled for Friday 6 February 2026 with the official Opening Ceremony in Milan, but the athletes will be engaged in the qualifying races on the snow of Livigno already from 5 February. The last competitions in Livigno will be held on Saturday 21 February, the day before the official closing of the Olympics on Sunday 22 February.

Ski passes and prices for skiing in Livigno: the split of the ski season
The costs of the daily ski pass in Livigno, season tickets and other cards for skiing in the entire ski area vary according to the period of the ski season, which for 2025/26 will be subdivided as follows.
Promotional period:
- 29 September to 20 December 2025;
- from 11 April to 3 May 2026.
Season' period:
- 7 January to 30 January 2026;
- 28 March to 10 April.
High season period:
- 21 December 2025 to 6 January 2026;
- 31 January to 27 March 2026.
