The Livigno ski area is a favourite with skiers throughout the Alps, due to its size (over 115 km of groomed slopes) and the variety of tracks, with more than 70 slopes of varying levels of difficulty. But even for aspiring skiers or those just starting out, Livigno is ideal, because there are special areas and many services for learning to ski, such as at the Valandrea Ski Area, where every winter many children, teenagers and adults take their first steps on the snow.

To start skiing in Livigno, you don't need to go far: the small camps in the centre are ideal for learning the technique and trying your first descents, while the slopes at high altitude are recommended for those already familiar with skiing. In order to learn to ski easily, you need, in addition to the essential ski equipment of course, pistes with gentle slopes, a good instructor and, if possible, ski lifts for beginners. At the Valandrea Ski Area we have everything, with the advantage of being right in the centre of Livigno with a dedicated car park.

Let's start with the ascents: our treadmill is perfect for those who are approaching the ski lifts for the first time and do not yet have the necessary familiarity to take the ski lift or get on the chairlift. It is a 30-metre long ski carpet that goes up the slope next to the main lifts (the Valandrea ski lift and the Botarel 6-seater chairlift) and is reserved for children and beginners, who can thus reach the starting point of their descents easily and without the risk of falling.

The two Valandrea ski runs are suitable for those learning to ski: they have limited slopes, especially in the final part of Valandrea II served by the treadmill, and are both classified as blue runs, i.e. of an easy level. The pistes are accessible both by ski lift and chair lift: the latter takes skiers to a higher altitude, thus allowing them to ski on a longer track with a greater gradient, therefore more challenging, suitable for those who already know how to ski.

Ski school in Livigno: lessons and instructors at Valandrea

The Valandrea is a ski area with a ski school in Livigno, and this is a very important aspect for those skiing for the first time: just a few simple notions and a limited number of descents are enough to become familiar with the snow and learn the basic technique, and to do this there is nothing better than taking ski lessons. Ours is one of the best ski schools in Livigno and is open every day throughout the winter season, from December to late spring, with trained and experienced ski instructors used to training entire generations of skiers.

By contacting the Valandrea ski school you can enrol in:

• individual ski lessons, with an instructor at your complete disposal for a certain number of hours;
• group ski courses for beginners or intermediate skiers.

The ski school courses are open to everyone - Italians and foreigners, children and adults of all ages - and are structured so that groups of the same level can be formed. In addition, there is the possibility of signing up for individual snowboard lessons for children, teenagers and adults, under the guidance of professional instructors, to learn how to use a board on the snow.
