World Cup Super-G comes to Livigno near Valandrea

20 December 2025

Saturday 27 December the race on the new Li Zeta track: all the info

Before the Winter Olympics, at the end of 2025 Livigno will host another great winter sports event: the men's Super-Gygiant race valid for the Alpine Ski World Cup, scheduled on Saturday 27 December on the slopes of the ski area of Livigno, with arrival near the Valandrea lifts. Here in detail all the information about this unmissable appointment.

Super G race in Livigno: schedule and programme

For the first time a Ski World Cup race will be held on the snow of Livigno. This year the traditional appointment at the end of December with the downhill of Bormio, historical Valtellina stage of the Circo Bianco, due to the proximity with the competitions of the Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina 2026 (the downhill on the Stelvio slope will therefore be held in February) moves a few kilometres away, in the magical atmosphere of Livigno. The resort of Little Tibet is thus preparing to become the reference point for Alpine skiing in the last weekend of 2025, before turning the spotlight on the Olympic disciplines scheduled in Valtellina: snowboarding and freestyle (acrobatic skiing).

The Super-G in Livigno will take place on Saturday 27 December in the morning, but already the day before, a series of side events will take place, including:

Friday 26 December

  • the presence of Kristian Ghedina in Livigno for the presentation of his biography and a direct meeting with fans;
  • the fans' club parade through the streets of Livigno, from via Dala Gesa to Piazza del Comune (start at 17.45);
  • the extraction of the race bibs with an innovative artistic show, entitled Bib Draw Show, starting at 18.30 in Piazza del Comune.

Saturday, 27 December

  • Opening of the grandstands at the Super-G finish area (9 a.m.)
  • from 10.30 a.m., pre-show with music and artistic performances;
  • at 11.30, the official start of the men's Super-G race;
  • at the end of the race, the prize-giving ceremony in the finish area.

The new slope of Livigno for the World Cup Super G

The Alpine Ski Super-G valid for the Audi FIS Sky World Tour is being held on a ski slope built in the Livigno ski resort especially for this occasion: a track 1800 metres long and with 530 metres of altitude difference, located on the side of the Carosello 3000-Sitas, which runs in its final section right next to the slopes of the Valandrea Ski Area to the finish in the village.

The Li Zeta slope - this is its name, due to its "Z" shape on the side of the mountain - will see the athletes start at the 2375 metres of the Costaccia refuge, with an immediately very fast first section up to the Valandrea cross. Then a very fast double bend leads to the wall of the Larici, where the gradients reach peaks of 52%. Once the steepest part is over, the track comes out of the woods and heads towards the valley floor, passing close to the Tea da Plan with a spectacular passage between the wooden huts: here the athletes will be in sight of the village, which they will reach with a final dive across the Plan da li Zeta, until they cross the finish line at an altitude of 1850 metres, in the locality of Tagliede.

Besides the spectators who will buy tickets for the grandstand and the slope of the Livigno Super-G race, those who will be able to enjoy the excitement of the athletes' descent will be the skiers of the Valandrea Ski Area. Right next to the Li Zeta slope there are in fact the lifts (chairlift, ski lift and magic carpet lift) and the two Valandrea slopes, which also on 27 December - as during the whole period of the Olympic races in Livigno - will be open and fully operative for all those who want to ski in Livigno and live a fun day on the snow, with dedicated services such as parking for skiers, skipass sale and lockers for rent.
