Ski Cross and After Party: the most anticipated ski event of the season on 12 April

It is that time of the year again: the 2024/25 ski season cannot end without the Rodèla Race, the most spectacular, adrenaline-pumping and fun skiing event of the Livigno winter. The third edition of what, although only born in 2023, has already become a fixed appointment at the end of the season, will take place on Saturday 12 April in the traditional location of the Ski Area Valandrea, in the centre of Livigno.

Downhill race on cross-country skis: the Rodèla Race in Livigno

The Rodèla Race is a ski race in Livigno open to everyone, with a fundamental peculiarity: the participants do not have classic downhill skis on their feet, but rather cross-country skis. The competition, however, does not take place on the flat ring dedicated to cross-country skiers, but on the downhill slope of the Ski Area Valandrea, prepared for the occasion. On the Boardercross track usually dedicated to snowboarders and freeriders, in fact, a track designed to enhance the athletes' skills with various obstacles, gymkhana, jumps and parabolics will be set up.

And this explains the choice of name for this event, with the term 'rodèla' in Livigno dialect, which best expresses the fundamental component of cross-country skiing, the one most appreciated by the public (perhaps a little less so by the participants): the rolls and falls on the snow that will be inevitable given the complexity of the test but which are an integral part of the day's fun. Along with - and this is also an essential aspect - the costumes worn by the skiers, who also compete to come up with the craziest and most hilarious look: remember that there is a special prize for the best overall.

Programme and registration for the Rodèla Race 2025

The one organised at the Valandrea Ski Area will be a whole day of fun, with a rich calendar of events starting in the morning and ending only in the late afternoon thanks to a series of initiatives and side events. Here is the complete programme of the 2025 edition:

• meeting at the Valandrea Ski Area, bib collection and brief reconnaissance of the slope;
• phase 1: qualifying with single start
• phase 2: batteries
• phase 3: final;
• prize-giving;
• after party with lunch and DJ set.

Even those who don't put their skis on to challenge each other in the descents are of course invited to attend the event and join the party that will animate this special day on the snow of Livigno, in the magnificent setting of the Ski Area Valandrea.
